Rapid
Response

The Challenge

BIPOC low-income and working-class communities in Arizona face relentless attacks, from harmful legislation targeting immigrant and LGBTQ rights to barriers in voting, education, and reproductive freedom. At the same time, the state’s complex legislative process and the surge of misinformation online left families without reliable information about what was at stake or how to respond.

Our Approach
  • Monitored legislative bills and emerging threats.

  • Developed rapid-response social media campaigns, ads, videos, captions, and educational graphics to counter misinformation.

  • Co-led a coalition of organizations to ensure unified messaging and coordinated community outreach.

  • Established and strengthened Progress Arizona's social media presence across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

  • Defined the strategy for the Megaphone program, empowering volunteers to amplify progressive messaging.

  • Trained volunteers on using tools like the Megaphone app and Canva to create their own content.

  • Monitored analytics to track engagement and optimize messaging for maximum impact.

Voter Ballot Guide

The Challenge

Propositions on issues like DACA protections, voting rights, and medical debt were often written in complex political language that could mislead communities. Clear, accessible, fact-checked copy was essential to break down the jargon, reveal each measure’s real impact, and help voters take informed action.

Our Approach
  • Develop an educational proposition voter guide for mail to help inform and educate Arizonans about the harmful proposition bills taking place in the 2022 election cycle.

  • Produced infographics and educational content simplifying complex legislation for diverse audiences.

  • Focused on accessible language, culturally inclusive design, and actionable information to empower communities.

Impact

The voter guide reached thousands of Arizonans ahead of the 2022 election, cutting through political jargon and providing communities with the knowledge to make informed decisions. By breaking down complex propositions into clear, accessible language, it empowered voters to understand how each measure would affect their lives, from defending immigrant rights and reproductive freedom to protecting democracy itself.

Most notably, the guide contributed to the passage of Proposition 308, which granted undocumented students access to in-state tuition. Shared widely among families and communities, it became more than educational material; it was a trusted tool for action and for change at the polls.

Progress Scorecard

The Challenge

Arizona communities are deeply impacted by decisions made at the legislature, yet it’s often difficult for everyday people to track how lawmakers are voting on issues that affect their lives. From mass incarceration to climate justice to healthcare, families needed a tool to hold elected officials accountable.

Our Approach
  • Partnered with community organizations, labor unions, and advocacy group, working directly with movement leaders and frontline organizers, to prioritize the most critical bills and ensure the Scorecard reflected those most affected.

  • Designed graphics and messaging to make legislative voting records accessible and easy to share.
