Brand Strategy and Visual Identity

The Goal

Arizona has been shaped by decades of harmful policies and corporate practices that have disproportionately impacted low-income BIPOC communities, resulting in ongoing environmental injustice across the state.

Fuerte confronts these injustices through art, using creative expression as a vehicle for resistance and change. Their visual identity should mirror their mission by centering artist and community members, celebrating self-expression, and elevating art as a tool for organizing and movement building.

Our Strategy

We began with the logo, using a paint tray to symbolize art as the center of Fuerte's work, and then shaped the visual identity around the meaning of Fuerte by incorporating a cactus with raised arms to symbolize strength, and took inspiration from Arizona’s landscape, using a color palette drawn from the state's iconic desert skies.

The Impact

The refreshed brand enhances Fuerte Arts Movement's ability to mobilize artist and residents across Arizona. By unifying the visual identity, the rebrand strengthens campaigns advancing environmental justice, securing renter protections, influencing policy, and ensuring that environmental benefits reach those who have long been excluded.
